In a world of diversity and differences then there is a growing need to respect those differences and to understand that they are important to different communities that not only make up our world but also our own diverse communities in the countries in which we live.

But what about human rights and how do we react to practices in some cultures that are abusive to people – and often especially to women. Is abuse in the name of culture justified or are human rights of paramount importance.
